Rachel Mello is a Lompoc native who has been playing the piano since she was in third grade. She studied music education at California State University, Fullerton and graduated with a major in Liberal Studies, whith a minor in music. She recently retired after teaching elementary school in Lompoc for 26 years, during which time she did many musicals with her students, who ranged from kindergarten to fifth grade. She believes strongly in the importance of bringing art and music education back into the elementary schools.
In addition to the Master Chorale, Rachel also plays for Cityview Community Church and substitutes for other local churches. Aside from playing the piano, she enjoys practicing the harp, spinning, weaving, and riding here e-bike. She is also active in community theater. Theater-goers may recognize her from Sant Maric Civic Theater's recent production of The Savana Sipping Society and Lompoc Civic Theaters' The Revolutionists. She would like to dedicate this performance to Craig and Riley, who help keep her young. Rachel is proud to be a part of Lompoc Valley Master Chorale and hopes you enjoy the concerts very much!
